Not all contractors are involved in anomalous government projects; therefore, President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has ordered a swift disbursement of payment for those contractors that are in good standing.
Palace Press Officer, Presidential Communications Office Undersecretary, in a media briefing on Monday, said the President directed all government agencies to ensure that contractors who have performed well in their projects are paid promptly.
Castro said President Marcos’ directive to pay contractors who have satisfactorily completed their projects promptly underscores his firm resolve to boost the economy, as he leads efforts to investigate and address the misuse of public funds.
“The President’s order: Pay contractors immediately who have done quality work on the projects,” Castro said.
During a meeting with the economic team last Friday, the President directed Cabinet officials to “move forward” and prioritize the swift, efficient implementation of government infrastructure projects, stressing the need for close monitoring to ensure timely completion and high-quality outcomes.
Castro emphasized that the directive also urges closer coordination between national and local government units to ensure better oversight of infrastructure projects.
“Faster payment processes, better work for the Filipino people,” Castro said, highlighting the link between prompt payments and better service delivery.
With the policy, President Marcos’ administration underscores its commitment to efficiency, accountability and inclusive economic development, ensuring that every infrastructure project delivers tangible benefits to the Filipino people, according to Castro.
