Members of several militant and environmental groups held a protest rally outside the Chinese Embassy on Wednesday morning, demanding a total overhaul of national mining policies and increased protection for environmental activists.

The demonstration began at approximately 10:18 a.m. along Buendia Avenue in Barangay Bel-Air. Police estimated that about 40 participants joined the rally, representing organizations including Katribo, Kalikasan-PNE, Kilusan ng Magbubukid sa Pilipinas, and various youth and artist groups.

Led by Ronnie Manalo and Alex De Guzman, the protesters called for the repeal of the Mining Act of 1995 and the passage of the People’s Mining Bill. The groups specifically demanded the withdrawal of Woggle Corp. from Dupax del Norte in Nueva Vizcaya, citing concerns over the impact on local communities.
