BAGUIO CITY — Law enforcement authorities uprooted and burned on site an estimated P3,074,000 worth of fully grown marijuana plants (FGMJPs) in Benguet on 26 January 2026.
A total of 15,370 FGMJPs were discovered during an eradication operation conducted by personnel from the Bakun, Kapangan, and Kibungan Municipal Police Stations; the 1st and 2nd Benguet Provincial Mobile Force Companies; and various units of the Benguet Police Provincial Office, including the Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit and the Provincial Intelligence Unit.
The operatives were also joined by the Regional Intelligence Division of the Police Regional Office–Cordillera and the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency–Cordillera.
The marijuana plants were found across 14 separate plantation sites in the municipalities of Bakun, Kapangan, and Kibungan, Benguet. No arrests were made, as no cultivators were present at the time of the operation.
Police and anti-narcotics agents are conducting follow-up investigations to identify and locate those responsible for the plantations. Any suspects arrested will face charges for violating Republic Act No. 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
