Whether in the city or countryside, people are putting up their own vegetable garden to grow their own food. For those who like to try this healthy activity but don’t know how to do it, they can attend Villar Foundation’s training on organic vegetable production at its school and tourism farm in Las Pinas City-Bacoor on 28 to 30 January 2026.

Three-day training/workshop will be conducted by Emma Tolentino, owner of Eco Natural Integrated Farm in Barangay Bulo, Victoria, Tarlac. Tolentino is a regular resource person for the Foundation’s organic vegetable farming training.

Those interested can register as participant through the Villar Foundation’s Facebook page.

Learning organic vegetable production techniques offers health, environmental and economic benefits for individuals and communities. These methods promote sustainable practices without synthetic chemicals, leading to fresher produce and better soil management. Mastery of these skills empowers self-sufficiency in gardening or farming.

Organic techniques produce vegetables richer in minerals, vitamins and nutrients compared to conventional methods, enhancing dietary quality. They eliminate exposure to pesticides and herbicides, reducing health risks for growers and consumers.

Practices like crop rotation and composting improve soil fertility, structure and biodiversity while minimizing erosion and pollution. Organic production supports carbon sequestration, water conservation, and resilient ecosystems against climate change. Beneficial insects and wildlife thrive without chemical interference.

Seeds cost little compared to store-bought organic produce and eating grown vegetables saves a lot on food bills. Techniques build weed resistance and pest resilience over time.

Gardening fosters physical activity, stress reduction, and a deeper connection to nature and seasons.
