The Philippine auto industry closed 2025 with record sales despite a slower second half, according to data released by the Chamber of Automotive Manufacturers of the Philippines, the Truck Manufacturers Association, and other industry sources.

Total vehicle sales reached 491,395 units, surpassing the previous record of 473,842 units set in 2024. The result represented a 3.7 percent increase year on year. CAMPI and TMA members accounted for 463,646 units of the total.

Industry leaders said growth was moderated by tougher conditions in the second half of the year.

These included the reimposition of excise tax on pickup trucks and several natural disasters that affected sales operations in different regions.

December provided a strong finish for the market. Sales for the month totaled 47,371 units, the highest monthly volume recorded since 2017.

Manufacturers and dealers rolled out year-end promotions and new model launches that helped lift showroom traffic.

Electrified vehicles posted significant gains during the year. Sales of battery electric, plug-in hybrid, and hybrid electric vehicles reached 58,905 units, equivalent to 12 percent of the total market.

This was up from 5.5 percent in 2024, with combined xEV sales rising 142.5 percent year on year.

Commercial vehicles also contributed to the growth. Sales of one-ton and above multi-purpose vehicles rose 76.6 percent compared with the previous year.

Popular models in the segment included the Toyota Tamaraw, Mitsubishi L300 FB, and Isuzu Travis.

By brand, Toyota led the market with a 46.7 percent share, followed by Mitsubishi at 18.0 percent. Suzuki, Ford and Nissan completed the top five.
