The Pasig River Esplanade is set to reopen to the public in approximately 10 days, according to First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos.
In a social media post, the First Lady shared updates showing crews painting the esplanade’s surface and several commercial stalls.
The site has grown into a popular destination for evening walks and holiday food tours, anchored by a large food bazaar.
The project is part of a broader Pasig River rehabilitation effort overseen by the first lady, which entered its third phase in February 2025.
Phase 3 focuses on creating 2,000 square meters of open activity space along Plaza Mexico.
Once completed, the expansion will connect the existing esplanade to the historic Fort Santiago, providing a continuous walkway for tourists and residents.
The rehabilitation initiative aims to transform the riverbanks into functional public spaces while restoring the environmental health of the waterway.
