Police arrested two Indian nationals following a high-tech pursuit through Las Piñas City after the pair allegedly robbed a fellow countryman at gunpoint.
Officers from the Daniel Fajardo Sub-Station apprehended the suspects, ages 27 and 33, shortly after a robbery was reported in Villa Fidela Subdivision, Barangay Elias Aldana.
According to police reports, the suspects forcibly took a cellphone valued at P73,000 and P10,000 in cash from the victim in front of his residence. Authorities were able to track the suspects in real-time by utilizing the stolen phone’s GPS signal.
During the “hot pursuit” operation, police recovered the stolen items along with a motorcycle, helmets, and a red jacket allegedly used during the commission of the crime.
Acting Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Lt. Gen. Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr. praised the rapid response as a successful application of the agency’s “Enhanced Managing Police Operations” strategy.
“Criminal acts, regardless of nationality, will not find refuge under our watch,” Nartatez said in a statement. “The strict implementation of the law is for the security and peace of every citizen.”
The victim positively identified both suspects and the recovered property at the station. The two men are currently being held at the Las Piñas City Police Station pending inquest proceedings.
Nartatez added that the operation aligns with the directives of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. to modernize crime prevention and operational response.
“Through immediate action and coordinated response, the public can trust that the PNP is always ready to act,” Nartatez said.
