SHFC releases P14-M Valenzuela housing aid
SHFC said the checks covered payment to the landowner for land acquisition as well as a grant to cover expenses for processing the documentary stamp tax on the mortgage.

The Social Housing Finance Corporation (SHFC), in coordination with the Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD), released more than P14 million in housing assistance to the Wawang Pulo Homeowners’ Association Inc. Phase 1 in Valenzuela City.
The check awarding was held on 9 January in Barangay Wawang Pulo and was led by DHSUD Secretary Jose Ramon Aliling and SHFC President and CEO Federico Laxa, along with Valenzuela Mayor Wes Gatchalian.
SHFC said the checks covered payment to the landowner for land acquisition as well as a grant to cover expenses for processing the documentary stamp tax on the mortgage.
Aliling said the release of checks reflects the government’s focus on housing security.
Gatchalian said the city government supports housing initiatives that benefit communities through secure land tenure.
Laxa said SHFC will continue assisting Filipino families in acquiring land where their homes stand.
HOA President William Asuncion Jr. thanked DHSUD and SHFC for the assistance, saying the group had waited over two decades to secure ownership of the land.
Wawang Pulo HOAI Phase 1 has 242 member-beneficiaries and is part of 36 initially approved projects under SHFC’s Enhanced Community Mortgage Program, which aims to provide security of tenure to more than 6,200 families nationwide.
SHFC said three other communities — Centennial Sunrise HOA, Megaville 2 HOA, and Villa Soledad in Pasig City — have also received checks for land acquisition and documentary stamp taxes under the program.
