Bowling icon Paeng Nepomuceno served as guest of honor and speaker of the Community Chest Foundation Inc., (ComChest) Bowling for a Cause tournament recently at Paeng Nepomuceno Midtown Bowls at the Robinson’s Place Ermita in Manila.
During his inspirational message, the six-time world champion Nepomuceno emphasized his perseverance, rigid training and time management in emerging as one of the most successful Filipino athletes of his generation.
He was introduced by Councilor Mon Yupangco of the 5th District of Manila during the event that was also graced by tournament director Manny Inserto, who is also the treasurer of ComChest.
The winners in the special events under No Tap (9-pin strike) were Sean Vinta (champion), Kevin Tan and Toto Abear (1st runners-up), and Beth Co and Jester Balceda (2nd runners-up).
Meanwhile, the Low Score (beginners) winners were Linda Lay-Go (champion), Rhea Canlas (1st runner-up) and Joseph Buquing (2nd runner-up) while the High Score (experts) winners were Toto Abear (champion), Sean Vinta (1st runner-up) and Inserto (2nd runner-up).
The main events winners under the Open Bowling Tournament (with handicap) were champion Kevin Tan, 1st runner-up Jester Balceda and 2nd runner-up Jerry Co while Beth Co ruled the women’s division.
Trophies and medals were donated by the ComChest and awarded by Yupangco together with Director Inserto, ComChest corporate secretary Atty. Ed Canlas, and ComChest finance officer Lay-Go.
All proceeds from the tournament and some benevolent donors from the guests donated cash like Philippine Bowling Congress president Gerry Mallinlin and All-Star presidents of the Rotary chairman Ed Toribio will be donated to the earthquake and typhoon victims in Cebu.
