Apple unboxing

Archaeologists studying ancient Pompeii in Italy have discovered what the diet of slaves consisted of in the historic Roman city that was destroyed by a volcanic eruption.
In the slave quarters called Civita Giuliana villa, they found a large basket with the remains of “pears, apples or sorbs,” plus an amphorae or jar filled with fava beans, the Pompeii Archaeological Park said in a Facebook post in early December, Fox News reports.
The researchers believe the slave owners fed them the nutritious fruits and beans so they would be healthy and productive. Moreover, the estimated 50 slaves that were crammed in the cells were fed about 40,785 pounds of grain per year, according to Fox News, quoting the archaeologists.
Some slaves may have been better nourished than the free citizens who relied on handouts from the city’s elite, the archaeologists added.
Meanwhile, an Indian student’s iPhone box caught the attention of his teacher in class and a video of the scene taken by the latter went viral on X and Instagram.
In the video posted by
@hariom5sharma on X in November, the curious teacher is shown asking the schoolboy what was in the box and the student replied that it was his lunch, NDTV reports.
The teacher, thinking it was a prank, then told the boy to open it as his classmates came closer to see.
There was no expensive Apple smartphone inside the box. Instead, there were apple parathas (fritters) wrapped in paper.
The flatbread with stuffed sweetened apple fillings amused the teacher and she asked who had packed the lunch.
The student replied that he packed it himself, according to NDTV.
The teacher was recording her conversation with the student as he was unboxing the lunch and the video drew praise from online commenters, who called the packaging unique and eco-friendly.
As iPhones are very expensive, one commenter joked that the apple parathas were priced at 1.5 lakhs, or P98,000.
