The Northern Police District (NPD) has intensified security measures in schools across the CAMANAVA area — Caloocan, Malabon, Navotas and Valenzuela — following the spread of viral school threats and fake news that caused alarm among students, parents and teachers in northern Metro Manila.
Acting District Director PBGen. Benliner L. Capili ordered the deployment of additional police officers to all public and private schools in the four cities.
The NPD also increased police visibility and regular patrols in and around school premises.
The deployment includes personnel from the four city police stations and the Northern Police District Mobile Force Battalion, which is coordinating with school administrators as part of the security measures.
The heightened security measures come amid growing concerns over campus safety following a series of violent incidents and online threats that have unsettled school communities in recent weeks.
Authorities have intensified police visibility in schools nationwide after a deadly campus shooting in Tacloban City and separate stabbing incidents involving students in Cavite prompted the Philippine National Police and the Department of Education to strengthen security measures in educational institutions.
