  • Apple is reportedly pushing ahead with a glass-heavy iPhone redesign for the device’s 20th anniversary in 2027, despite an analyst report claiming the plan had been scrapped.

The next-generation iPhone Pro models are expected to feature glass across the front and back that curves into the sides, with a metal band separating the panels.

Apple had explored a more ambitious design using even more glass, but reportedly abandoned it after encountering durability and mass-production challenges.

The company’s current 2027 roadmap is already in advanced testing and largely locked in, though plans could still change.

The makeover would mark two decades since Steve Jobs unveiled the original iPhone in 2007. Apple previously celebrated the device’s 10th anniversary with the dramatically redesigned iPhone X.

Before then, Apple is expected to roll out major additions to its iPhone lineup, including a foldable model, upgraded iPhone 18 Pro cameras and a second-generation iPhone Air.
