Aboitiz InfraCapital, Inc. (AIC), the infrastructure arm of the Aboitiz Group, has strengthened emergency systems, improved hygiene, and upgraded air quality at the Bohol-Panglao (BPIA) and Laguindingan International Airports (LIA), giving travelers a safer and more comfortable journey.

“Our commitment goes beyond infrastructure — it is about making every flight safer, every journey more reliable, and every airport experience more world-class.

These improvements at BPIA and LIA show our long-term vision: provincial gateways that meet global standards and strengthen Philippine competitiveness in tourism, travel, and trade,” AIC President & CEO Cosette V. Canilao said on Monday.

At LIA, the Fire Detection Alarm System has been upgraded to enable faster hazard identification and evacuation, ensuring a more responsive and efficient fire monitoring network.

Meanwhile, at BPIA, technical assessments were conducted on firefighting equipment, including pump engines and booster pumps, to reduce the risk of failure during emergencies. The airport’s sewage treatment plant and ventilation and air-conditioning units were also cleaned, improving hygiene, air quality, and passenger comfort.

“We commend AIC Airports for their commitment to safety and resilience at Laguindingan and Bohol-Panglao International Airports. Beyond compliance, these mirror our strong partnership and thrust toward safer airports nationwide,” Transportation Secretary Giovanni Z. Lopez said.

Under AIC’s watch, BPIA is positioned as the Leisure Hub for UNESCO Global Geopark tourism, while LIA serves as the Service Hub supporting business and logistics in Mindanao.

Both airports are undergoing modernization, including terminal restructuring and capacity expansion, to cater to rising passenger traffic and follow the global standards set by Mactan-Cebu International Airport.
