The Department of Trade and Industry’s (DTI) Bureau of Philippine Standards released an updated list of licensed firework manufacturers and brands Sunday, urging consumers to purchase only products with valid safety certifications for the holiday season.

As of 26 December 2024, the agency has authorized several manufacturers to use the Philippine Standard Quality Mark. The list of licensed companies includes Diamond Fireworks Inc., Dragon Fireworks Incorporated, Dreamlight Fireworks Manufacturing and F.R.T. Fireworks.

Other certified producers identified by the agency are JPL Manufacturing Fireworks, Legendary Fireworks Inc., Maribel Sta. Ana Fireworks, Nation Fireworks, Pyro Kreations Fireworks and Star Light Fireworks.

The agency reiterated that consumers should check for the Philippine Standard mark along with a specific license number on all pyrotechnic packaging. Officials advised against purchasing generic or unlabeled fireworks that fail to identify the manufacturer.

To prevent holiday accidents, the DTI issued several safety protocols. Users are instructed to read all directions before use, avoid re-igniting fireworks that fail to explode, and maintain a safe spectator distance.

It also recommends using a long pole for ignition to keep a distance from the fuse.

Safety experts at the agency advised the public to wear protective eyewear and clothing made of cotton or denim, noting that synthetic materials like polyester are more flammable.
