Green GSM has started operating an all-electric taxi service in Davao, giving commuters another way to get around the city with app-based bookings and street-hail options.

It is Green GSM’s first move outside Metro Manila since it began operations in the Philippines in June 2025.

The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board for the Davao Region was represented by regional director Nonito Llanos. Local government offices and members of the business community also attended.

Green GSM said it chose Davao because of how the city runs day-to-day transport. The company pointed to Davao’s emphasis on public safety, environmental care, and community order.

It also cited the city’s steady growth in population and business activity, which has pushed daily travel demand higher in recent years.

In Davao, Green GSM will run a fleet made up only of electric VinFast vehicles. The company said these units have zero tailpipe emissions. It also said the service is built around what it calls its “5 Green Promises.”

These cover the ride experience, the drivers, the vehicles, the pricing, and the environmental impact.

Green GSM said drivers will be full-time professionals and will receive training aimed at consistent service and courteous conduct. The company also said fares will be shown clearly in the app to support transparent pricing.

Dao Quy Phi, managing director of Green GSM Southeast Asia, said the company wants to align its service with what Davao already values.

“Davao is a city that places strong emphasis on order, safety, and environmental responsibility. Our objective is to provide a reliable, zero-emission mobility option that aligns with these priorities while meeting the everyday transportation needs of local residents.”

The company also rolled out an introductory offer for new users in Davao. Residents who download the app and complete registration will receive 25 Green Points. Green GSM said each point equals one peso. Users can apply the points to their first trip or save them for later rides.

Green GSM said its approach is meant to support cleaner air and quieter streets, while giving residents a predictable option for daily travel. The company added that the Davao rollout fits its longer plan to expand to other key cities as part of its push for electric mobility in the country.
