The newly completed Bacsay Water Impounding Dam in Claveria will irrigate 498.51 hectares of farmland, directly supporting 596 farmers from five irrigators’ associations with a more stable and year-round water supply.
Beyond irrigation, the facility is also expected to help ease flooding in nearby communities by controlling excess runoff during heavy rains. The site was inspected by Senator Rodante Marcoleta and Administrator Eddie Guillen of the National Irrigation Administration (NIA) during a visit held on Sunday, 7 December. With the combined operation of the Tabbugan, Union, and Bacsay dams, more than 3,000 farmers across Cagayan now have improved protection for crops, steadier production, and added flood mitigation.
