The Quezon City Police District (QCPD) conducted an “Oplan Galugad” operation at a subdivision in North Fairview Friday night over residents’ concerns that non-residents were roaming around their area.

P/Col. Randy Glenn Silvio, QCPD District Director, said the Oplan Galugad mobilized around 160 police personnel divided into seven teams and instructed them to check the vicinity of Fairmont Subdivision in North Fairview at around 11 p.m.

Silvio said the move was prompted by a request from the homeowners’ association, which reported that informal settlers had begun occupying vacant lots and erecting shanties.

“There was a complaint from the homeowners’ association, so the station commander requested police visibility,” Silvio said.

“Their safety seemed compromised, so we examined the situation and conducted an Oplan Galugad to give the community confidence,” he added.

Silvio said that although the police visibility operation did not catch anyone with criminal records, the residents were assured that the police are ready to act on everyone’s concerns.

It was the seventh Oplan Galugad the QCPD has conducted as part of the Anti-Criminality Campaign of the Philippine National Police to curb the crime rate.

“In Oplan Galugad operations like this, we leave a mobile group as a left-behind force to prevent the occurrence of crime,” Silvio said.
