The Armed Forces of the Philippines on Sunday acknowledged the Association of General and Flag Officers (AGFO) for reaffirming its position rejecting destabilization efforts amid circulating claims of political unrest.

In its statement, the AFP noted AGFO’s release of a “Manifesto of Unwavering Support and Solidarity,” which emphasized adherence to the Constitution, respect for civilian authority, and the importance of maintaining professionalism within the uniformed services.

The AFP said the group’s reminder underscored the value of unity between active and retired officers. It added that the reaffirmation of non-partisanship aligns with long-standing rules guiding soldiers, airmen, sailors, and marines across all statuses of service.

AGFO is composed of retired and active generals and flag officers from the AFP, Philippine National Police, Philippine Coast Guard, Bureau of Jail Management and Penology, and Bureau of Fire Protection.

In its manifesto, the group invoked Article XVI, Section 5 of the Constitution, which insulates the Armed Forces from partisan politics and restricts military personnel from political activity other than voting.

The AFP previously stated there is no basis for claims of a military junta and reiterated that it does not support such actions.
