Netflix’s popular Korean cooking survival series Culinary Class Wars is returning for a second season, scheduled to debut on 16 December.

Producers Kim Hak Min and Kim Eun Ji thanked viewers for their enthusiastic response to the show, noting that they “put their hearts into creating a second season that lives up to audience expectations.” They also shared that the new season features updated rules and challenges designed to enhance what fans loved while improving on areas that drew criticism.

The show’s core matchup continues: the self-taught “Black Spoon” chefs will once again compete against the seasoned professionals of the “White Spoon” team. This season, however, brings a wider mix of culinary backgrounds, with chefs specializing in Korean, Western, Chinese and Japanese fusion cuisine.

The White Spoon team boasts an impressive lineup, including two-Michelin-star chef Lee Jun; Son Jong Won, who holds Michelin stars in both Korean and Western cooking; Venerable Sunjae, Korea’s first officially recognized master of temple cuisine; and Hu Deok Juk, a veteran of Chinese cuisine with nearly six decades of experience.

Celebrity chef Paik Jong Won returns as a judge, joined once again by Anh Sung Jae from the three-Michelin-star restaurant Mosu.

Season one made history as the first Korean unscripted program to top Netflix’s global Top 10 non-English TV rankings for three consecutive weeks.
