The Roman Superhighway in the Province of Bataan is set to become an all-weather road to complement the Bataan–Cavite Interlink Bridge (BCIB).
According to Bataan 3rd District Representative Maria Angela Garcia, House Bill No. 1967 has been approved at the committee level under the Committee on Public Works and Highways.
The bill mandates the full conversion and maintenance of the Roman Superhighway in Bataan as an all-weather road.
"This initiative forms part of a united legislative push to improve and climate-proof the Roman Superhighway—our province’s main national road—alongside related measures filed by Rep. Albert 'Abet' S. Garcia (HB 1081) and Rep. Jernie Jett V. Nisay (HB 3131)," she said.
She added that the project is critical as the province prepares for major catalysts of growth such as the Bataan–Cavite Interlink Bridge, expanded industrial activity, port and logistics development, and increasing mobility across Luzon.
"This is not just a road project—it is a long-term investment in regional connectivity and economic progress," she added.
The official expressed her gratitude to her fellow lawmakers from Bataan and members of the committee for their support on the bill.
"We will continue working toward its passage into law," she said.
House Bill No. 1967 in the current 19th Congress of the Philippines is an act mandating the full conversion and maintenance of the Roman Superhighway in Bataan as an all-weather road.
The bill was authored by Bataan Representatives Albert Garcia, Maria Angela Garcia, and Jernie Jett Nisay. Its primary objective is to strengthen the province’s main national road, boost the movement of agricultural crops and other goods to markets, and enhance food sufficiency.
