  • Private power producer GNPower Dinginin Ltd. Co. claimed first place for the Top Community Building Champion Award during the Freeport Area of Bataan Stakeholders’ Night on Tuesday.

Authority of the Freeport Area of Bataan administrator and CEO Mohammed Hussein P. Pangandaman presented the trophy to GNPD vice president for Corporate Services Andrea Mellind Madrid and assistant vice president for Supply Chain Management Kate Bermio during the event in Mariveles, Bataan.

The enterprise agency recognized the AboitizPower subsidiary in the Large Enterprise Category for its community support and development contributions throughout 2024 and 2025.

Company officials said the award underscores the value of sustained public-private collaboration in developing social projects tailored to local needs.

Community engagement for the power firm remains anchored on partnering with government units, institutions, and local residents to create shared value across Bataan, according to a company statement.

GNPD operates its primary corporate social responsibility initiatives alongside affiliate GNPower Mariveles Energy Center under a flagship program designated as P.R.O.G.R.E.S.S.

The framework focuses on marine life protection, reforestation, waste-to-wealth optimization, livelihood generation, infrastructure rehabilitation, educational development, healthcare access and disaster resilience.

Under this framework, the firm runs MediKalinga medical and dental outreach missions providing free healthcare and prescription medicine to nearby communities.

The company also collaborates with regional groups, such as the Abucay Upland Farmers Association, on bamboo reforestation projects and waste-recycling initiatives.

Additionally, company employee volunteers coordinate with local government units during emergency relief operations to distribute supply packages to families displaced by seasonal flooding and storms.

Company executives described the recognition as both a milestone for past community work and a renewed commitment to continue expanding regional outreach projects.
