Phl Embassy urges Filipinos in PNG to avail immigration amnesty

The Philippine Embassy in Papua New Guinea (PNG) urges Filipinos with irregular immigration status to avail the Government of PNG’s 14-day amnesty which will run until 26 November.
In an advisory on Wednesday, the Embassy encouraged affected individuals to voluntarily report and regularize their stay, in line with the appeal of PNG to foreign nationals.
According to the Immigration and Border Security of PNG, the amnesty calls for individuals and sponsors to voluntarily come forward and present themselves to the PNG Immigration and Citizenship Service Authority (ICSA), which covers those who breached the Migration Act 1978 and the Employment of Non-Citizen Act 2007.
The notice of PNG also warned that after the given amnesty period, non-compliant individuals will be “forcefully removed immediately from the country and banned from future re-entry,” while sponsors who helped undocumented workers are at risk of facing hefty charges according to applicable laws.
The Embassy reminded employers and sponsors to cooperate with ICSA during the amnesty period.
Filipinos seeking to avail the amnesty may report their status at amnesty2025@immigration.gov.png
According to the latest data of DFA, there are 35,969 Filipinos in PNG.
