The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) has tapped Converge ICT Solutions Inc.’s SME Solutions unit to boost the digital readiness of micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) by expanding access to reliable connectivity and basic digital tools.

Under a Memorandum of Understanding signed on Tuesday, 18 November, Converge will provide connectivity packages, onboarding support, and digital solutions to MSMEs participating in DTI’s digitalization programs. 

The partnership is designed to close persistent gaps in digital readiness—particularly stable internet access—affecting both startups and long-established enterprises shifting operations online.

Dindo Marzan, Senior Vice President for the Converge SME Group, said the company will develop and supply tools simple enough for small businesses to adopt. 

“Every business relies not only on effective and efficient connectivity but also on easy-to-use and practical digital solutions. We are honored to support the DTI in ensuring that MSMEs—wherever they are—gain access to the technology and assistance they need to grow sustainably,” he said.

For DTI, the tie-up helps build an inclusive digital ecosystem and enable stronger competition amid an evolving market.

DTI programs covered by the collaboration include initiatives that help traditional enterprises and startups adopt e-commerce automation, cloud systems, AI-supported platforms, and other emerging technologies.

“Our goal is to push for MSMEs to embrace technology and digitalization, and we believe that this partnership with Converge strengthens our push. 

Through this initiative, we can give our entrepreneurs not just access to tools but a fair chance to compete and succeed in the global market,” Assistant Secretary Nylah Rizza Bautista, Supervising Head of the DTI-Competitiveness and Innovation Group, said. 

MSMEs make up 99.6 percent of businesses in the country. However, many still struggle to adopt digital tools, a gap the DTI seeks to narrow through more private-sector partnerships.
