The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) demonstrated the Philippine Marine Corps’ (PMC) precision, coordination, and combat readiness in full-scale amphibious counter-landing operations in Ilocos Norte.
Units from the 4th Marine Brigade (4MBde), reinforced by reservists from the 71st Marine Reserve Battalion (71MRBn), conducted the Amphibious Operations and Counter Landing Exercise at Bleacher 1, Camp Cape Bojeador in Burgos, Ilocos Norte on 14 November.
The high-intensity drills, part of the AFP Joint Exercise (AJEX) DAGIT-PA, showcased the Marines’ ability to rapidly project power from sea to shore in a simulated contested environment. The exercise was supported by 105mm and 155mm howitzers, along with light armor assets, to enhance interoperability and coordination among active and reserve units.
AFP Public Affairs Chief Col. Xerxes Trinidad said the exercises focused on improving operational readiness and refining critical decision-making processes. Through a combination of simulated and live-action scenarios, Marine forces rehearsed synchronized maneuvers, rapid coastal responses, and integrated fire support—capabilities essential for defending the country’s maritime approaches.
The event also tested units’ adaptability to evolving coastal threats, ensuring resilience and mission readiness across multiple operational domains.
Trinidad added that the successful execution of the amphibious and counter-landing operations underscores the AFP’s commitment to strengthening maritime security and enhancing the tactical proficiency of its Marine forces.
