The Cement Manufacturers’ Association of the Philippines (CeMAP) has received citations from the Bureau of Philippine Standards-UL Standards and Engagement (BPS-ULSE) for advancing the standard of the country’s cement industry, as well as safety of consumers.

CeMAP was bestowed with the “Industry Partnership for Quality Assurance” Award during the BPS-ULSE Stakeholders Recognition and Awarding Ceremony held on 14 October at Marquis Events Place, Bonifacio Global City, Taguig.

CeMap’s commitment to high standards

“This recognition highlights CeMAP’s commitment to maintaining high standards and ensuring safe, quality cement for consumers,” CeMAP executive director Rey Baja said.

The event was organized by the Department of Trade and Industry–Bureau of Philippine Standards (DTI-BPS) in collaboration with UL Standards and Engagement (ULSE), with the theme “Collaboration in Motion: Driving Meaningful Change.”

Valuable partnerships

The occasion highlighted and honored the valuable partnerships between BPS and its stakeholders to recognize their significant contributions in advancing BPS programs and services, and to celebrate milestones achieved through collaboration.

CeMAP’s Product Standards Committee (PSC) accepted the award on behalf of the association.

The PSC plays an important role in keeping cement safe and high-quality, as it reviews and updates product standards, works with government and private groups to protect consumers, helps develop Philippine National Standards (PNS) through active participation in DTI-BPS technical discussions, and monitors the market nationwide by buying and testing cement brands for compliance.

Cement conformity to Philippine National Standards

Ensuring cement conformity to the PNS is essential for construction safety and structural integrity.

Although the PNS is adapted from ASTM benchmarks, it is specifically calibrated to suit the Philippines’ unique geological profile and climate conditions.
