The Manila Electric Company (Meralco) on Monday assured customers Monday that its crews are working around the clock to safely restore electricity to areas affected by super typhoon “Uwan.”
Meralco vice president and head of Corporate Communications Joe Zaldarriaga reported significant progress in restoration efforts. As of 1 p.m. Monday, the number of customers affected by outages had dropped to 166,000 from a peak of over 400,000 late Sunday night. The majority of the remaining outages are concentrated in Cavite, Bulacan and Rizal, with the rest scattered across parts of Metro Manila, Laguna, Quezon and Batangas.
“We appeal for our customers’ patience and understanding as we continue working tirelessly on service restoration,” Zaldarriaga said. “We also enjoin the public to continue observing electrical safety precautions, especially in those areas that experienced flooding.”
