CAMP OLIVAS, Pampanga – An improvised .22 caliber firearm was recovered in Brgy. Roosevelt, Dinalupihan, Bataan, on Wednesday, prompting police to renew calls for the surrender of unregistered weapons.
According to a report from the Dinalupihan Municipal Police Station (MPS), the firearm was discovered at approximately 5:00 p.m. on 5 November, 2025, by a Chief Tanod and a Barangay Investigator during a routine patrol. The officials noticed the weapon concealed in bushes and immediately alerted authorities.
Responding officers secured the area and recovered the converted firearm, which was then transported to the Dinalupihan MPS for documentation and investigation.
Bataan Provincial Director PCOL Marites A. Salvadora emphasized the dangers posed by loose firearms and urged residents to voluntarily surrender any unregistered or undocumented weapons to the nearest police station.
“We remind everyone of the importance of turning over loose firearms to the authorities, as they pose serious risks to individuals and the community,” Salvadora stated. “We encourage the public to be responsible gun owners and comply with firearm regulations to ensure the safety of the community, their families, and themselves.”
The Dinalupihan MPS is continuing its investigation into the origin of the recovered firearm.
