139 Zambales farmers complete pest, nutrient management training

Capitol town of Iba conducted the soil series and sustainability training to farmers to broaden their knowledge in the proper use of fertilizers and identification of proper crops for the soil.

A total of 139 farmers from six batches completed the Scaling the Adoption of Pest and Nutrient Management Technologies in Rice for Farmers program in Zambales on 21 October 2025.
The initiative was conducted in collaboration with the provincial government of Zambales and the municipal governments of San Marcelino, Botolan, and Sta. Cruz.
The graduation ceremony was held at the Regional Mango Center, President Ramon Magsaysay State University (PRMSU) in San Marcelino. It was attended by Provincial Agriculture Officer Arnel V. Abayan, Zambales Board Member Enrico Matibag, PRMSU officials, and Deputy Executive Director for Development Karen Eloisa T. Barroga, along with representatives from local government units.
Meanwhile, the capital town of Iba conducted a soil series and sustainability training for farmers to enhance their knowledge of fertilizer management and crop selection. During the activity, a mobile soils laboratory performed on-site soil testing and analysis to determine the appropriate fertilizers for various farmlands.
The training was held in partnership with the Department of Agriculture, the Provincial Agriculture Office, and the LGU Agricultural Services of Iba.
