Five family members killed as tree crushes home in Quezon

Five members of a family were killed after a huge buri palm tree fell on their house in Barangay Saguinsinan, Pitogo, Quezon Province, on 19 October 2025.

According to reports, the tree collapsed while the family was sleeping inside their home. The house, made of bamboo and straw, was not sturdy enough to withstand the impact.

Five of the six family members — a couple, their two children, and a grandparent — were declared dead on the spot, while the eldest child survived the incident.

Authorities are investigating the cause of the tree’s collapse, while the office of Rep. Reynan Arrogancia is assisting in the preparation of funeral services for the victims.
