Two-time Masters champion Bubba Watson has withdrawn from both the International Series Philippines presented by BingoPlus and the Link Hong Kong Open, disappointing fans eager to see his trademark creativity and power off the tee at Sta. Elena Golf Club later this month.

Watson, a fan favorite known for his imaginative shot-making and emotional candor, revealed on social media that a small growth — or “lesion” — had developed on his left ring finger in recent weeks. The condition caused persistent pain and limited his ability to grip a club properly.

After consulting doctors, the 45-year-old American underwent a minor surgical procedure to remove the growth. Though the operation was successful, its location near a joint means recovery will take longer than expected, keeping Watson out of action for up to eight weeks.

“I had been looking forward to playing the International Series Philippines and the Link Hong Kong Open this month and I’m disappointed that I will miss those events. But I’m glad to know this is only a short-term setback,” Watson said.

He expressed gratitude to tournament organizers, sponsors, and fans for their support and understanding, adding:

“I am grateful for their well wishes for my recovery. I look forward to getting back to form and ready to play in time for the 2026 LIV Golf season with my RangeGoats.”

Watson’s absence removes one of the biggest global names from the Asian Tour’s marquee stretch, but the International Series Philippines still promises world-class competition. The $2 million event features stars such as Dustin Johnson, Patrick Reed, Louis Oosthuizen, and Filipino standouts Miguel Tabuena and Justin Quiban.

Organizers expressed full support for Watson’s decision to prioritize his health, noting that his long-term well-being takes precedence over short-term appearances.

Set for 23-26 October, the tournament at Sta. Elena Golf Club will proceed as scheduled — though many fans will be wishing for a swift recovery and a speedy return for one of golf’s most colorful figures.

LIV Golf champions coming

Fans will also see the likes of Dean Burmester (LIV Golf Miami winner, Stinger GC), Marc Leishman (Ripper GC, multi-time PGA and LIV winner), and Richard Bland (Cleeks GC, two-time Senior Major winner) in action — each bringing extensive international experience and recent championship form to Sta. Elena’s challenging layout.

With over 20 nationalities in the field and $2 million on the line, the International Series Philippines promises high drama, world-class competition, and breakout moments from Asia’s top young talents.

The country’s golf fans can expect a spectacle on and off the course, with BingoPlus powering fan zones and festival-style entertainment.
