Pacquiao Jr. faces Irish in pro debut

Jimuel Pacman will have his legendary father in his corner when he makes his professional debut on 29 November at the Pechanga Resort Casino in Temecula, California.

Sean Gibbons of Manny Pacquiao Promotions (MPP) is staging the slugfest that will have as main event a world featherweight title eliminator starring American Elijah Pierce against Venezuelan Lorenza Parra.

Joining MPP in its maiden promotional event are Viva Promotions, BXSTRS, Ringside Ticket Inc., DMG, DTX, Limitless and Eazylens.

The opponent for the young Pacquiao is being finalized but “an Irish kid from Chicago” is likely the one on the opposite corner, according to Gibbons.

Marvin Somodio, the right-hand man of Hall of Fame trainer Freddie Roach at Wild Card Boxing Club in Hollywood, presides over his training.

Somodio is a trusted guy given his being a member of Pacquiao’s training team.

Pacquiao Jr. began training at the Wild Card in 2019.

He has logged a few amateur bouts in the US and continuously trains under Somodio and initially with Roach.

“He’s got his father’s traits,” Somodio said.

The fight will be extra-special for the Pacquiao family as Jimuel’s Los Angeles-based girlfriend is set to give birth in mid-November, making the legendary eight-division champion a grandfather.
