Members of the national team got a boost after the Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) struck a P60-million deal with the Philippine Airlines (PAL) that will run under the Los Angeles Olympics in 2028.
Based on the agreement signed by PSC chairman Patrick “Pato” Gregorio and PAL president Richard Nuttall recently, Filipino athletes will be eligible to be part of PAL’s exclusive membership program — Mabuhay Miles. With that, they will be given customized cards on top of other perks like hero’s welcome on board, free 20-kilo baggage allowance for sports equipment, and waiving of rebooking fee.
Gregorio is thrilled to seal the partnership, saying that this will be a big help to the campaign of Filipinos in tournaments like the Southeast Asian Games, Asian Games and the Olympics.
“When you touch the heart of an athlete, they start winning,” Gregorio said, adding that the partnership also aims to strengthen their mission of pushing for sports tourism and promotion of the Filipino brand of hospitality and athletic spirit to audiences around the world.
“And when they start winning, they touch the hearts of 110 million Filipinos.”
