Operatives from the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) arrested a man accused of qualified rape of his minor daughter in an operation conducted in Davao City.
The operation was carried out on 7 October 2025, by the NBI–South Eastern Mindanao Regional Office (NBI-SEMRO) in Ecoland, Davao City, where the suspect was apprehended while selling banana-cue along the street.
According to the bureau, the arrest was made pursuant to a Warrant of Arrest issued by the Regional Trial Court, Branch 33, Davao City. The case was investigated by the Office of the City Prosecutor in Davao after the guardian of the minor victim reported that the child had been sexually assaulted by her father.
Following the arrest, standard booking procedures were carried out by NBI-SEMRO.
In a statement, NBI Director Jaime Santiago commended the arresting agents and reaffirmed the bureau’s dedication to protecting children from abuse and exploitation.
“The NBI will exhaust every lawful avenue to hold perpetrators of such heinous acts to account – because where a child is harmed, the full force of justice will follow,” Director Santiago said.
The suspect faces charges for violating Republic Act No. 8353 (Anti-Rape Law of 1997), as amended by Republic Act No. 11648, which strengthens penalties for rape and sexual abuse committed against minors.
