The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) rescued a former beauty queen and five Russian women who were allegedly victims of human trafficking in an operation in Makati City.

According to the NBI-IOD, it received information about the alleged recruitment and offering of women, including beauty queens, actresses, models and foreign nationals, for paid sexual services.

The women were allegedly offered for sexual commercial, public relations, modeling and companionship services.

The suspect allegedly charged up to P25,000 for each Russian woman.

In the entrapment operation, an NBI poseur-buyer negotiated with the suspect, who allegedly agreed to provide the women for P25,000 each, apart from a commission.

The suspect was arrested after receiving marked money at a hotel residence in Makati City.

The rescued women are now under the care of the Makati City Social Welfare and Development Office for assessment and aftercare services.

The NBI is continuing its investigation to determine whether other individuals were involved in the alleged illegal operation.
