Authorities arrested two wanted suspects in separate operations at Ninoy Aquino International Airport this week, the Philippine National Police-Aviation Security Group reported.
On Thursday evening, a 52-year-old Filipino man facing fraud charges was intercepted at NAIA in Pasay City before he could board a flight to Thailand. Police confirmed the passenger’s travel details around 8 p.m., then arrested him in the international pre-departure area.
The arrest was made based on a warrant issued by a regional trial court in Baguio City on 13 January 2020. Bail was recommended at P500,000.
In a separate operation Wednesday, police and Bureau of Immigration officers arrested a man arriving at NAIA Terminal 3 from Singapore. The suspect was wanted for violating the Anti-Violence Against Women and Their Children Act of 2004.
Authorities said the case involves a violation of Section 5(e) of the law, which penalizes the withholding or deliberate provision of insufficient financial support legally owed to a woman or her children.
The warrant was issued by a regional trial court in Bago City, Negros Occidental in June 2014.
Police at NAIA Terminal 3 said Friday that both suspects declined to be interviewed, citing legal representation.
