Muntinlupa City Mayor Ruffy Biazon has called for accountability and long-term solutions following a bullying incident that left a 15-year-old student hospitalized.

The student was reportedly injured after a classmate allegedly pulled her hair, causing her to hit her head on the floor. She was later hospitalized due to dizziness and vomiting.

A video circulating online showed the victim on the ground while another student continued to attack her, as classmates attempted to intervene.

In a statement on Sunday, Biazon said he had already met with Department of Education (DepEd) division officials, the school principal, guidance counselors, the class adviser, and parents of both students involved before the incident was reported in the media.

“I made it clear that the one who committed the violence must be accountable,” Biazon said in Filipino, adding that he informed the victim’s family that they may pursue legal action.

Biazon also said the accused student and their parent apologized, noting that the child expressed remorse and had also experienced bullying in the past.

The mayor directed the DepEd division office and school officials to continue the investigation, implement sanctions, and strengthen anti-bullying measures.
