Authorities confirmed on Monday that at least six people were injured on Sunday afternoon in an explosion at the intersection of Tayuman and Dagupan streets in Barangay 234, Tondo, Manila.
The Manila Police District disclosed that the victims — who all sustained fragmentation injuries — are under observation at Dr. Jose Reyes Memorial Hospital. They were identified as Cristina De Chavez, Michael Terro, Romario Prinsipio, Ryan De Chavez, Jimmy Da Sillo and a minor.
According to Cristina de Chavez, a witness and one of the injured, the group was sorting junk materials around 2:30 p.m. Sunday when she heard a loud explosion. She then saw the victims lying on the ground with blood on their bodies.
SFO2 Joshua Emmanuel Galora and FO2 Ronnie Agustin, an arson investigator with the Bureau of Fire Protection Manila, are investigating the incident.
