A police officer from Tondo, Manila was arrested for the illegal discharge of a firearm on Sunday night, the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) reported on Monday.
A concerned citizen contacted Kalasag 911, reporting the alleged firearm discharge along Moriones Street, Barangay 123. Within moments, operatives from the Raxabago Police Station, Manila Police District, were deployed to verify the claim.
Upon arrival, the officers found the 37-year-old suspect, a police officer, drinking with friends. After informing him of the complaint, the suspect voluntarily surrendered his government-issued firearm, which was loaded with thirteen rounds of 9mm ammunition, along with his PNP ID.
The suspect was then taken to Police Station 1 for further investigation. His firearm, magazine, ammunition, and identification have been secured and will be transferred to the Manila Police District's General Assignment and Investigation Section for proper disposition.
The incident is under investigation as the NCRPO continues to reinforce professionalism, discipline, and integrity among its personnel.
