Valenzuela considers container yards’ total ban

The local government of Valenzuela City may ban all commercial container yard operations before the end of the year following persistent complaints regarding structural hazards, noise pollution, and severe traffic congestion in residential areas, municipal officials announced.
The local government issued the warning following a town hall meeting with affected residents and freight facility operators in Barangay Paso de Blas, where community leaders highlighted safety risks posed by freight containers stacked up to eight tiers high adjacent to residential homes.
During the dialogue, local leaders signed three immediate executive directives imposing interim operational restrictions on facility owners.
Under the temporary guidelines, operators must maintain a wider buffer zone between stacked cargo and neighboring residential properties.
Municipal authorities also restricted container stacking heights to a maximum of five tiers and required operators to consolidate heavy cargo strictly within the central sections of their compounds.
The local government stressed that the interim measures represent immediate safety interventions while the City Council conducts public hearings to draft a permanent regulatory framework.
