Cainta, Rizal has installed additional booster pumps across the town to enhance the water flow in the Cainta River, part of the local government's efforts to mitigate flooding.
Mayor Keith Nieto shared that the town recently conducted a dry run of its third booster pump near Park Place Subdivision along Ortigas Avenue.
"These booster pumps will push water into floodways during typhoons," Nieto explained.
The new pumps are expected to benefit various areas, including Village East, Vista Verde, Karangalan, Gruar, San Buena, Kasibulan, and Dacon Homes.
One booster pump at Garden Walk will remove water from Vista Verde, Filinvest, Greenpark, and Karangalan, redirecting it from Buli Creek. It is set to be completed by October 2025. Another pump at the Cainta River will divert water from Greenland, Corinthians, and Kabayanan, scheduled for completion in December 2025.
Looking ahead, Nieto noted that two more pumps are planned for 2026, one at the Karangalan Hakbangan Creek and another beside BF Metal along Ortigas Avenue. This would bring the total to seven booster pumps once all projects are completed.
