The Philippine national women’s football team announced the appointment Friday of Riccardo Marchioli as its new assistant coach.

Marchioli, who is based in Australia, will be the newest addition to the coaching staff after former deputy Andrew Durante resigned last July.

Marchioli is currently the head coach for Hume City FC in the National Premier Leagues Victoria in Australia and worked as an international football scout for the United States women’s football team.

For Filipinas head coach Mark Torcaso, Marchioli’s input will help them reach new heights as they compete in two tournaments this year.

The Philippines will be joining the ASEAN Women’s Championship in Hanoi starting on Wednesday and the 33rd Southeast Asian (SEA) Games in Thailand from 9 to 20 December.

“Riccardo’s analytical expertise and his ability to integrate technology into player development and tactical planning are incredibly valuable. He brings a strategic mind that will push us to think differently and prepare even more thoroughly,” Torcaso said.

“We’re not just gaining a coach; we’re gaining a true collaborator who shares our passion for continuous improvement and achieving the extraordinary for Philippine football.”

Marchioli will also be around when the Philippines competes in the AFC Women’s Asian Cup in Australia next year as he couldn’t wait to start.

“Excited to begin this new chapter and thankful to head coach Mark for the opportunity. Looking forward to the Asean Championships this month and then full steam ahead to the opening game of the 2026 Asian Cup against the Matildas,” Marchioli said.
