Filipinas midfielder Sara Eggesvik gets an opportunity to compete in Europe after signing up with LSK Kvinner FK in the Toppserien in Norway.
The 28-year-old midfielder transferred from Western United after 19 appearances and two goals in the A-League Women in Australia.
Eggesvik joined LSK Kvinner in the middle of the season where the squad is currently sitting in fourth place with a 7-3-4 win-draw-loss record.
Eggesvik said she has been settling well with her new club as she takes on a new challenge.
“The weeks I have had with the team during my training stay here have been very nice. I have been able to train well with the team and have settled well into the player group,” Eggesvik said.
“I was on the trip to Sweden where I got to play a match and take part in the team building, which was very good. The environment here is good so it is very nice to be able to become a part of this.”
LSK Kvinner head coach Andre Bergdolmo is impressed with Eggesvik’s adaptability.
“Sara has been training with us since we returned from the summer break and now we are happy that she is signing for us. She is a player with a lot of experience and someone who has gone straight into the playing group,” Bergdolmo said.
With Eggesvik being busy with her new club, she won’t be able to join the national team’s campaign in the ASEAN Women’s Championship in Vietnam that starts on Thursday.
Filipinas head coach Mark Torcaso said they are ready to defend the title even in the absence of Eggesvik as well as veterans Sarina Bolden and Katrina Guillou.
“As defending champions, we’re here to win, and do the best we can for the country and our fans. We believe in the depth of our squad and we’re ready to showcase it,” Torcaso said.
