Ex housing exec replaces Vergeire at DOH

President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has appointed housing and labor executive Randy Bacolor Escolango to the Department of Health replacing former Undersecretary and Spokesperson Maria Rosario Singh-Vergeire.

Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin confirmed Escolango’s new appointment on Friday.

Prior to his new position at the DOH, Escolango is a career government official who held similar roles in the Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development and the Department of Labor and Employment holding the rank of Undersecretary.

He is a lawyer by profession who obtained his law degree from the Far Eastern University.

From September 2017 to February 2022, Escolango served as a deputy insurance commissioner at Insurance Commission.

He also served as officer-in-charge administrator and chief executive officer at the Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority under the Duterte administration.
