The Cebu Online News Press Corps (CONPC) recently marked a milestone for the organization’s continuous growth and dedication to journalistic integrity. This special event served a dual purpose: the formal induction of new members and a reaffirmation of the existing members commitment to the group’s core values and mission.
Held at the vibrant Activity Center of Ayala Cebu, the event gathered participants from across the media sector and the wider community. Robby Alugar, the founder and president of RMA News, delivered an opening address that set the tone for the occasion. In his welcome remarks, Alugar underscored the essential role of collaborative efforts among media professionals in navigating the modern environment. He highlighted the growing significance of upholding truth and integrity, stressing that accurate and honest reporting remains fundamental in today’s fast-evolving landscape.
“Your collective efforts have truly made a difference throughout the years of our group’s existence,” Alugar said in gratitude to its members, underscoring CONPC’s unity.
Alugar called on attendees to work together, emphasizing that trust in the media is built on the unwavering commitment to factual storytelling and mutual support within the industry. By focusing on cooperation and truth-telling, the event aimed to inspire participants to maintain high journalistic standards and foster a culture of transparency, accuracy and ethical reporting in an age prevalent with misinformation and rapid technological changes.
In a significant move toward digital innovation, the CONPC unveiled its plans to expand its digital footprint through the launch of CONPC.TV. This new digital media platform developed in collaboration with JCAD TV. Julienne Guanzon, station manager of JCAD TV, presented the rationale behind this initiative along with an overview of the platform’s features and objectives.
The event also included the soft launch of The Next Level Lifestyle television show, which will showcase creative news and content produced by members, offering them opportunities to earn through exclusive segments and contributions.
Renowned advertising expert Luli Aliño and esteemed educator Marivic Bathan shared their insightful and inspiring perspectives on key issues facing the media industry. Drawing from their experience, they discussed the evolving challenges and professional standards within media, highlighting innovative approaches and ethical considerations.
To add vibrancy and excitement to the event, supporter and patron Maria Thelma Ong of Kasalan at Kotilyon 2025 spearheaded a bridal showcase featuring a captivating mini fashion show. Their collaboration with CONPC plays a crucial role in advancing their shared mission to boost Cebu’s wedding tourism industry.
