Amid heavy rains that forced families to seek shelter in evacuation centers, police arrested four men Tuesday evening inside the evacuation center at the Hagonoy Sports Complex in Taguig City.

The Taguig City Police Station (CPS) identified the suspects by their aliases: “Nico,” 20; “Michael,” 51; “Eugene,” 48; and “John Patrick,” 25.

Police said officers from Sub-Station 9 caught the four during a routine patrol and visibility operation, in the act of preparing suspected illegal drugs for a session.

Confiscated from the suspects were four sachets containing approximately 3.1 grams of suspected shabu, with an estimated street value of P21,000.

The confiscated items were documented on-site before the suspects were turned over to the Station Drug Enforcement Unit, pending the filing of formal complaints.

The suspects will face charges for violation of Section 11, Article 2 of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

The Acting District Director of the Southern Police District condemned the act, calling it “outrageous and unacceptable” that an evacuation center meant to provide safety was turned into a site for drug activity.
