Personnel from Sub-Station 1 of the Pasig City Police Station apprehended a theft suspect during a follow-up operation amid typhoon "Crising" on Saturday night.
Despite heavy rain and strong winds that disrupted communications and hampered movement, the team remained resolute in their mission.
The incident occurred at about 6:45 a.m. at a residence on Banaag Street in Barangay Pineda, Pasig City.
The investigation began when a 27-year-old female victim returned home from work and found her apartment window partially open.
Missing items included her company-issued laptop valued at P77,000, a pouch with P1,000 in coins and her passport.
Further investigation revealed that two neighbors also reported missing items, including four mobile phones (Samsung A5, A32, A56 and Vivo 1610) worth P50,000, a shoulder bag with jewelry worth P40,000, and various ATM and ID cards.
Responding officers arrested a 44-year-old suspect identified as alias Archie, who was found in possession of the stolen shoulder bag.
CCTV footage showed a second suspect, alias John, 21, who remained at large, entering the premises before heading to Archie’s residence. Efforts are ongoing to arrest him.
Alias Archie has a criminal record, having been arrested for drug-related offenses in November 2019 and April 2023.
A complaint for theft will be filed through inquest proceedings before the Pasig City Prosecutor’s Office.
