As Severe Tropical Storm Crising and the southwest monsoon continue to bring adverse weather across Luzon, Meralco said it is on heightened alert to ensure power service reliability and public safety in affected areas.

The electric company has deployed line crews across its franchise area to respond to potential power-related issues caused by heavy rain, strong winds, and possible flooding.

Meralco assured customers of continued service and reminded households in flood-prone areas to take safety precautions, including switching off the main power source and avoiding contact with wet electrical equipment.

“Our crews are ready to respond to any possible electricity service concern,” said Joe Zaldarriaga, Meralco Vice President and Head of Corporate Communications.

“We also reiterate our call to the public to observe safety measures when using electrical devices and appliances, especially when there is flooding.”

The electric distributor also shared safety reminders for households in flood-prone areas, advising customers to switch off the main power source, unplug appliances, and avoid contact with wet electrical equipment. Meralco stressed the importance of having flood-damaged devices inspected by a licensed electrician before use.

Customers were also advised to ensure communication devices remain charged and accessible during possible outages.
