At just 22 years old, Kyline Alcantara has already lived through one of the most complex emotions anyone can encounter: heartbreak. But in her recent interview on Fast Talk with Boy Abunda, she showed the world that even in pain, there is power — and in loss, there is light.

The conversation began with a signature Tito Boy question — poetic, piercing, and purposeful.

“When is love beautiful?” he asked.

Without missing a beat, Kyline answered with grace:

“I feel that love is beautiful — always beautiful.”

But as expected, the King of Talk didn’t stop there.

“When is love ugly?”

Her tone softened. Her truth deepened.

“Love is ugly when it’s the opposite of kindness, selflessness, and respect,” she replied. “But love itself? It’s always beautiful.”

This philosophy threads deeply into Kyline’s reflections on her past relationship with basketball star Kobe Paras. Their romance, though now over, is one she chooses to see with clarity and gratitude.

“It was a beautiful experience. I felt really happy, I felt really loved,” she said. “It’s just that we’re two different people. And that’s okay.”

Behind that acknowledgment, however, was the pain that often lingers after parting ways.

“I’m not gonna lie — at first, there was bitterness. Pero ngayon, wala na po.”

Pain behind beautiy

When asked about the emotional toll of breaking up, Kyline didn’t hold back. She embraced the vulnerability many try to hide.

“All heartbreaks or breakups are painful because you will experience grief. And grief hurts,” she admitted. “But for me, it’s an echo of love.”

Then came a line that struck the audience like a lightning bolt of wisdom:

“We mourn something or someone that once made our hearts fall. Iyon ang masakit. And to grieve it means you had something worth losing. And with that — just that — it is beautiful.”

What love taught her

Out of the emotional storm, Kyline emerged with lessons she now carries with dignity. When asked what she learned from her most recent relationship, her answer was clear:

“Know your boundaries. And have self-respect.”

Despite the noise surrounding her split with Kobe, she chose silence. Not out of weakness, but out of respect—for him, for herself, and for what they shared.

“I didn’t speak up because I still respect him as a person, despite everything that happened. And to everyone who hurt me… I will always show them grace.”

It’s a grace forged by heartache, but refined by healing.

Looking forward

Even with scars, Kyline remains hopeful — fiercely so. Asked if she still believes in love, her answer was unwavering:

“I will never ever give up on love. Never ever.”

But she also knows the importance of timing.

“Hopefully next time — malayu-layo pa — so I can focus on myself.”

At 22, Kyline Alcantara has already learned what some take a lifetime to understand: that love can hurt, but it can also heal; that silence can be strength; and that moving on doesn’t mean forgetting, but forgiving — especially yourself.

And in all that, love remains — still and always — beautiful.
