IBA, Zambales – A rough-toothed dolphin found stranded along the shore of a beach resort in this town was rescued, rehabilitated, and safely released back into the sea through the joint efforts of local agencies.

In a 15 July 2025 social media post, the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Region 3 (BFAR3) said the Bantay Dagat of Iba, Philippine National Police Maritime Group (PNP-MG), and Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) responded to the report of a beached dolphin.

The animal, showing signs of weakness and injury, was quickly turned over to BFAR3’s marine mammal responders and transferred for further care and observation.

BFAR3’s Fisheries Law Enforcement team provided medical attention and nourishment until the dolphin regained strength and stability.

After a successful period of recovery, the dolphin was declared healthy and active and was released back into its natural habitat.

BFAR3 said the effort demonstrates the agency’s ongoing commitment to marine life protection and highlights the importance of collaboration between local agencies in responding to wildlife emergencies.
