A new chairperson and chief executive officer of Nestlé Philippines has been appointed, following the reassignment of its former official to head the company’s Greater China Region.
In a statement on Monday, Nestlé Philippines announced the appointment of Mauricio Alarcón as its new chairman and CEO, succeeding Kais Marzouki, effective this month.
As he assumes leadership, Alarcón expressed enthusiasm about writing a new chapter in the company’s growth story, while continuing to make a meaningful impact on Filipino consumers, communities, and employees.
"Joining Nestlé Philippines is both an honor and a responsibility. Together with our teams and our partners, I aspire to take our business to new levels, doing good for Filipinos and the planet. In an increasingly complex and ever-changing environment, we can only achieve our goals by working together," Alarcón said.
Alarcón brings over 25 years of global experience at Nestlé, having served in various leadership roles across multiple countries and business units.
Born in Mexico, he earned his master’s degree in engineering from the University of Manchester. He began his career in an industrial group and then in banking before joining Nestlé Mexico in 1999, where he held key roles in sales and marketing. He later transferred to Nestlé’s Strategic Business Unit in Switzerland as a marketing advisor.
Starting in 2004, Alarcón held senior positions in the Nestlé ice cream business, including assignments in Australia and Egypt, covering North Africa. In 2014, he became managing director of Nestlé Côte d’Ivoire, later expanding his responsibilities to include Sénégal, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Gambia, Mauritania, and Cape Verde.
From 2016 to 2020, he served as managing director and CEO of Nestlé Nigeria. Prior to his Philippine posting, he was the CEO of Nestlé Central and West Africa Region, overseeing operations in 25 countries.
The Philippines remains one of Nestlé S.A.’s top 10 markets globally out of over 180 countries. Nestlé Philippines is also one of the top 10 corporations in the country and a major corporate taxpayer, contributing close to one percent of the national gross domestic product.
